At CAWIC, our Mentorship Program is an important initiative to fulfilling our mandate to enhance the success of women in the Canadian construction industry, through our core values of leadership, mentorship, membership and partnership.
Looking for a Mentor?
We can help answer both of these questions by facilitating networking with our members, who can assist with advice and guidance drawn from their considerable experience in the industry. A mentor is aware of the hurdles and challenges along the way and may help an inexperienced woman overcome these hurdles before these turn into obstacles.
At CAWIC, we have a diverse membership encompassing many areas of the industry from skilled trades to project managers, general contractors, estimators, lawyers, engineers and architects.
All CAWIC members are encouraged to become mentors within the Association and in their community, whether formally or informally.
We are actively looking for CAWIC members to volunteer their time for an hour or two per month to advise those members seeking guidance and support. We need members from all areas of the industry to reply to specific questions that may be asked and/or to be teamed up with a CAWIC mentee. This is a great way to broaden your network and to give back to other women in the industry!
See links below, which illustrate the wide range of career choices within the construction industry. We also encourage you to visit our Links page for a detailed list of industry specific links.

Program Updates and Mentorship Event Information
CAWIC hosted it’s first Mentorship Information Event on December 1st and the response was fantastic!
A special thank you to our speakers: Gail Smith from Skills Canada Ontario, Angela Wilson from Bitumar and Anna Willats from George Brown College.
We had a great evening of conversation, networking and learning about the benefits of being both a mentor and mentee.
Looking forward to hosting our next event!
